The business
SellAbroad lets merchants sell internationally without rebuilding their store. It sits on top of an existing Shopify, WooCommerce or custom checkout and localizes it for each market: local currencies, more than 100 local and alternative payment methods, and duties and taxes shown upfront at checkout.
Merchants pay in two ways. They pay a monthly subscription to use the platform, and SellAbroad earns a share of every transaction it processes.
What we did
Rennewi Ventures incubated SellAbroad and ran it as the operating partner. We supplied the founding operators, built the payments and compliance stack, and ran go-to-market across multiple regions.
- Payments infrastructure. We set up acquiring and processing relationships across several providers and regions so merchants could accept local payment methods in each market.
- Go-to-market. We built an outbound and paid acquisition engine that brought merchants onto the platform.
- Recurring revenue. We packaged the platform as a monthly subscription, so revenue did not depend only on transaction volume.
The result
We scaled SellAbroad to $8M in monthly processing volume. At a 10% take rate that is $800K a month in processing revenue. Merchant subscriptions added $150K in MRR.
